What is scientific translation?

Scientific translation is considered by most in the industry as a type of technical translation which involves the conversion of documents, theses, analysis, studies, reports, and web content from one language to another.

Scientific texts are usually produced for experts and used around the world. They are normally the result of in-depth investigations and contain important study findings and research results. These texts are drawn up using scientific language, often containing a multitude of field-specific terms. Institutions such as universities, colleges and research bodies rely heavily on professional translators, to ensure these often complex scientific texts are translated clearly and accurately.

When would you require scientific translation services?

If you or your company is involved in the science, technology, environment, life sciences and engineering sectors, it is of course certain or highly likely that you will require scientific translation services. Examples of content that may require scientific translation include:

  • Scientific studies
  • Journals and papers
  • Official publications
  • Material for laboratories and testing material
  • Test reports

Of course, all projects, and particularly financial projects, are dealt with in the strictest confidence, and are subject to signature of an NDA between HI-COM and its customers before the start of each project.

As and when required, HI-COM can send its translators or interpreters to the customer’s premises. Whether it’s just for a short meeting or a long-term on-site assignment, HI-COM can provide suitable resources for the specific task in hand.
