Discover consecutive interpreting with HI-COM!
Interpreting is the act of translating a person’s words from one language into another during a speech, presentation, or conference.
The interpreter has an extremely important role because he/she has to convey someone’s words into another language whilst maintaining the meaning and tone used.
There are different varieties of interpreting used depending on the formality, format, and style desired by the customer.

What is the definition of consecutive interpreting?
Consecutive interpreting can be carried out in a simple way as very little equipment is needed/used. This type of interpreting can be done in any place or environment.
Consecutive interpreting can be arranged quite easily as the interpreter does not need any special training prior to the event as he/he already has the relevant qualifications.
-
What are the advantages of consecutive interpreting?
Consecutive interpreting requires the interpreter to listen to the speech and note down the context and any other information provided, in extremely intricate detail.
The interpreter must listen to the speech as carefully as possible and note down only what he or she thinks is important to ensure that the final interpreting is as accurate as possible. The challenge of consecutive interpreting lies in the interpreter’s ability to accurately memorize what is said and the notes that are taken.
Typically, the speaker will talk for about ten minutes in his or her own language before the interpreter rephrases the speech and delivers it in the desired language. For example, a French-English interpreter might listen to a speech in English before delivering it in French.
