About Visit Maldives Corporation
Visit Maldives Corporation, also known as the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), is the national tourism promotion organization of the Maldives. It is responsible for marketing the country worldwide as a leading luxury and leisure travel destination under the brand “Maldives… The Sunny Side of Life.” Established in its current form in 2010, the corporation operates as a state-owned enterprise based in Malé and works closely with the Maldivian government, tourism authorities, resorts, airlines, and international travel partners.
The organization’s main role is to attract visitors to the Maldives through international advertising campaigns, public relations activities, digital marketing, trade shows, media partnerships, and collaborations with influencers and travel agencies. It promotes a wide range of tourism experiences, including luxury resorts, boutique hotels, diving, surfing, honeymoon travel, liveaboards, and eco-tourism.
Tourism is the most important sector of the Maldivian economy, and Visit Maldives plays a key role in maintaining the country’s strong global image. In recent years, the organization has gained international attention through high-profile campaigns and partnerships, helping the Maldives win several global tourism awards, including recognition as one of the world’s leading travel destinations.
Customer requirement
At the beginning of 2026, MMPRC announced a call for tender, inviting translation agencies to submit a bid to translate the annual 168-page Maldives Destination Guide, a comprehensive brochure covering all the island nation’s holiday hotspots, into 10 different languages. After meticulous preparation, HI-COM was successfully selected as the supplier for this project ahead of several other translation agencies. We would once again like to thank MMPRC for choosing our services!
HI-COM’S Approach
Given the high-end nature of the client’s industry, HI-COM adopted the following service approach:
- Selection of native translators of the 10 target languages, each with extensive experience in the tourism sector: Past clients of our extensive network of tourism translators include, Club Med, Accor Hotels, Royal Caribbean, and Four Seasons Resorts.
- Meticulous Craftsmanship, Word by Word: Each resort was fully researched to ensure that the tone of voice of the translated copy matched with the special experiences and services found on and around these special islands.
- Multi-Round Review and Stylistic Polishing: The copy of each resort undergoes a dual review and stylistic polishing process to ensure the language is elegant, compelling, and fit for such an exclusive destination.
- Post layout checks and localization. As the design and layout of the brochures was handled by the client themselves, HI-COM played a crucial role ensuring that the layout of the brochures was adapted to suit the markets of the target languages. This involved providing guidance on text arrangement, and proposing additional post-layout changes, as sentences can sometimes read differently once displayed in their final format.
Result

All brochures we completed on time without any issues reported. HI-COM was even able to provide a faster service for the Arabic and German brochures, as they were needed earlier for an exhibition. We look forward to providing MMPRC with more translation services for their future campaigns.
