Simultaneous Interpreting for the Celebration of the Inaugural Montreal-Shanghai Flight
During this event we inaugurated the flight the airline’s first direct service to Asia from Montreal, offering convenient one-stop access to points throughout Quebec, Atlantic Canada and the United States. It also marks the airline’s first route from Montreal to be operated with its state-of-the-art Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft and cabin features. All Air Canada flights provide for Aeroplan accumulation and redemption and, for eligible customers, priority check-in, Maple Leaf Lounge access and priority boarding benefits.
HI-COM was honored to provide a Simultaneous Interpreting Service (French – Chinese) on February 18th, for the Celebration of Air Canada’s Montreal-Shanghai Inaugural Flight. An enjoyable evening was spent with the Mayor of Montréal, the Honourable Denis Coderre and the Québec Minister of Tourism, Mrs. Julie Boulet.
The event was held at one of the ballrooms of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel – Shanghai, Pudong (地点:中国上海市浦东新区浦东南路111号 )
We provided headsets for the 250 guests allowing them to listen to the speeches either in French or in Chinese.
Our 2 really experienced interpreters fluent in both French and Chinese provided their impeccable skills during the 3-hour ceremony.
Finally, we would like to thank The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai with whom it was a pleasure to cooperate on this project.
Simultaneous Interpreting English – Chinese for the VDW Press Conference at CIMT 2017
HI-COM provided English to Chinese Simultaneous Interpretation services for the WDW Press Conference in Beijing on April 2017. The event was held at the China International Exhibition Centre.
Simultaneous Interpreting involves highly skilled and experienced interpreters, whom are familiar with the subject matter and technical terms. Due to the speed of receiving, translating and then delivering the message, interpreters need to be able to think clearly and act quickly under pressure. Simultaneous Interpreters usually work in pairs, alternating regularly to allow for optimal performance and accuracy. At the conference the audience is able to hear the interpreting through the headphones provided. The equipment has a few channels through with Conference Interpreters are connected to the audience. In case interpreting in more than one language is provided, the audience is able to choose from various languages channels. The delay between the speaker and an interpreter can vary from 1 to 3 seconds.
For this event, we dispatched 2 of our experienced English – Chinese Simultaneous Interpreters to provide their services on-site.
Our team also planned and managed the entire process of setting up the interpreting booths, and also provided the radio and signal transmission equipment and all headsets for the guests.

Consecutive Interpreting Chinese – English for a conference “XIII-th China Development Plan 2016/2020”

Simultaneous Interpreting English – Chinese for a Mexican Avocado Seminar in Guangzhou
HI-COM provided English to Chinese Simultaneous Interpretation services for the Mexican Avocado Seminar in Guangzhou on May 16th. The event was held at the Consulate General of the United Mexican States in Guangzhou.
For this event, we dispatched 2 of our experienced English – Chinese Simultaneous Interpreters to provide their services on-site to 60 persons.
Our team also planned and managed the entire process of setting up the interpreting booths, and also provided the radio and signal transmission equipment and all headsets for the guests.

Chinese – English Consecutive Interpreting for GRAMAS at the SIAL in Shanghai
HI-COM provided Chinese to English Consecutive Interpretation services for GRAMAS, a leading supplier of nuts and dried fruits from Turkey, at SIAL (International Food exhibition) in Shanghai.
Our interpreter was dispatched to the booth for the 3-day exhibition to aid communication between the GRAMAS team and potential Chinese customers and partners.

Conference Interpretation English – Chinese for the Pet Food Industry in China with Diana Pet Food
HI-COM provided English to Chinese Conference Interpretation services for the Pet Food Industry in China with Diana Pet Food.The event was held at the Naked Hub, Xikang Road in Shanghai.
Diana Pet Food is a relatively young company that has developed rapidly. Its success is a story of consistent pioneering within the pet food industry. With origins in a French family milling company that diversified into livestock and animal feed in the 1950s (the Guyomarc’h Group), it has emerged at the forefront of the pet food industry through a series of key steps, including particular highlights.
Conference Interpreting or Simultaneous Interpreting is where the interpreter listens to the speaker and delivers the translation in real time – at the same rate of delivery as the speaker – to the audience. It is a mode of interpretation commonly deployed at conferences, seminars or forums where the interpreters will typically be situated in a discreet booth, wearing microphones and headsets, with a direct link to the speaker’s microphone, and a link to the headsets worn by the audience to receive the real-time translation.

Conference Interpretation English-Chinese for an International Music Summit in Shanghai with A2LIVE
HI-COM provided English to Chinese Conference Interpretation services for an International Music Summit in Shanghai with A2LIVE.
International Music Summit, the premier platform for thought leadership in electronic music, has concluded a successful fourth installment of its flagship event in Asia, IMS Asia-Pacific, in conjunction with A2LiVE and STORM festival. The event brought together 700 dance music industry leaders from 24 countries from East and West for two days of thought provoking panels, world-class production and DJing workshops, insightful reports and after parties in Shanghai that revealed the scale of Asia’s burgeoning electronic music market. Professionals representing over 60 different senior electronic music industry roles including CEO’s, Agents, Artists, Bookers, Managers, Club & Festival owners were present at the summit, with 74% attending from China, 18% international and 9% from Asia.

HI-COM is proud to be the Simultaneous Interpretation partner of the Australia-China Sports Summit held by the Australian Chamber of Commerce on October 16th-17th.
Quoting the Australian Chamber, “The Inaugural Australia-China Sports Summit brings together industry professionals and experts from China and Australia to talk about the future of sport in both countries and the opportunities to collaborate and learn”, the event brought together thirty speakers, hosted over twenty panel discussions, and attracted hundreds of attendees.

HI-COM was selected as the official Simultaneous Interpretation partner for the first ever Australia-China Sport Summit hosted by AUSTCHAM Shanghai.
It was an honored to be selected as the official Simultaneous Interpretation Partner for the first ever Australia-China Sport Summit hosted by AUSTCHAM Shanghai.
The Australian Chamber of Commerce Shanghai (AustCham Shanghai) is the peak body for Australian business in China. As a membership-based organisation, AustCham Shanghai represents more than 350 businesses and individuals providing support, education, advocacy and business services.
AustCham Shanghai is a bridge between Australian and Chinese organisations, facilitating connectivity and promoting bilateral trade between Australia and China. The Chamber successfully links Australian organisations with Chinese counterparts and potential business partners, enhancing the trade relationship between the two countries.
We provided conference interpretation for this 2 day event which include keynote speakers and panel discussions, revolving around the budding sports and business relationship between Australia and China.

The FFF and its National Technical Department will provide a training course for 240 Chinese teachers invited to France by the French Federation of University Sport (FFSU). HI-COM is dispatching French to Chinese interpreters on-site in order to ease the communication during the training sessions.

The FFF and its National Technical Department will provide a training course for 240 Chinese teachers invited to France by the French Federation of University Sport (FFSU). HI-COM is dispatching French to Chinese interpreters on-site in order to ease the communication during the training sessions.
The 240 Chinese teachers, invited to France by the FFSU as part of its partnership signed in 2015 with its Chinese counterpart, the Federation of University Sports of China (FUSC) – will receive assistance for football coaching training which will be provided by the National Technical Directorate (DTN).
China has made football a compulsory discipline at school and has opted for French know-how as part of the cooperation and development office that the French Football Federation (FFF) and the French Professional Football League (LFP) opened in Beijing in February 2017.
This assistance, mainly intended for Chinese amateur football, will take place in October, November and December, in Aix-en-Provence, Bordeaux, Lyon, Montpellier, Rouen and Toulouse (see below).

• Bordeaux (Regional Center of Aquitaine Football, Haillan): from October 23 to 27 and from November 27 to December 1, 2017.

Last week, we’ve provided conference interpretation for VDMA, in their 6th Annual Mechanical Engineering Summit.
HI-COM has provided Conference interpretation services for VDMA for their 6th Annual Mechanical Engineering Summit on the 8th of November, in which we dispatched 2 of our experienced interpreters who provided technical language assistance for 150 guests in Shanghai, in which we provided support in English and Chinese.
Who is VDMA ?
VDMA, or Verband Deutscher Maschinen und Anlagenbay (The Mechanical Engineering Industry Association) has its headquarters in Frankfurt am Mainin Germany, and represents around 3,200 members, making it the largest industry association in Europe. With more than 1.3 million employees and a turnover of around EUR 232 billion (2018) mechanical and plant engineering is Germany’s largest employer in the industrial sector. In addition, VDMA sees itself as a platform that provides its member companies with various networks where they can discuss technological challenges, interdisciplinary issues and many other topics. The association was founded in 1892. VDMA concentrates its efforts on eight key topics : Markets and economy, Research and production, Energy and environment, Social and economic policy, Profession and training, Companies and management, Law and taxes and Standardization and technology policy.

HI-COM interpreting at China’s Leading Imported Food and Beverage Trade Show
We were proud to provide our Consecutive Interpretation services (English to Chinese) to help facilitate business connections at Shanghai’s leading international trade expo. HI-COM provided interpreting services for GRAMAS at this trade show.
It was HI-COM’s honor to once again be invited to one of China’s largest international F&B trade shows, FHC China, to provide Consecutive Interpretation services for GRAMAS, a premium importer of dried fruits and nuts from Turkey.
More than 2,000 companies from more than 60 different countries are represented at FHC China, held each year at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. The global trade expo provides an invaluable platform for international companies to meet and make connections with Chinese importers, distributors and retailers.
During the course of this 3-day exhibition, our interpreter assisted the GRAMAS team with their interactions with Chinese customers, distributors, retailers and prospective importing partners.
Language need not be a barrier for the shared enjoyment of good food!

The Benelux Chamber of Commerce – BenCham – is the most active Benelux business platform in China. Its members, leading companies from Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, share an active interest in developing trade and business in China. It is the only Chamber of Commerce that is officially recognised and supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in China. BenCham currently has over 350 members, aspiring to grow further every day. HI-COM has provided technical support for a Conference Interpretation that was held by the SKOLKOVO Moscow School of Management. This event was a lecture for 60 Russian participants, where the speaker shared with the audience his experiences in China, and gave the participants a background of the Chinese culture. This event was held at the Grand Kempinski Hotel in Shanghai.
Who is SKOLKOVO ?
The Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO is a graduate business school located near Skolkovo, Moscow Oblast, close to Moscow, Russia. The school, founded in 2006, is a joint project between major Russian and international business leaders. The mandate for SKOLKOVO was to become a platform where new generation of the Russian leaders would develop – be it entrepreneurs, corporate executives or public officials. One of the first SKOLKOVO International Advisory Board members was Lee Kuan Yew, the Minister Mentor of the Republic of Singapore. All programmes are designed with a “learning by doing” principle and include theoretical segments, practical tasks, project work and international modules.
